The Cape Town-based Gaming and Hospitality Management Academyis running a programme that will give free training to waitrons and bartenders. Students will learn all the necessary skills required to perform a professional service for the hospitality industry in the Western Cape. What is unique about this initiative is that there is no cost to the trainees.

The Executive Mayor of the Mopani District Municipality in Giyani, Limpopo, Joshua Matlou, is giving away bursaries to students from poor backgrounds and those with disabilities in the district.
“These bursaries will be awarded to learners who have passed Grade 12 with a Bachelor Admission and who wish to further their studies in civil engineering, quantity surveying and construction in the engineering field; food management, animal science, plant production and soil science in the agricultural field; and accounting sciences and internal auditing in the sciences management field,” said Matlou.

As part of the “In-Country / In-Region Scholarship Programme”, in which more than two dozen African universities and university networks participate and which annually supports some 800 African postgraduates, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is able to offer scholarships for postgraduate studies at South African universities.
