Road shows to assist unemployed graduates
Careers - Careers

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) will embark on road shows aimed at mobilising young people with tertiary qualifications from NQF level 5 and upwards to register themselves for potential jobs that are available within government.

NYDA executive chairperson, Andile Lungisa, will lead the road shows aimed at collecting the resumes of unemployed graduates, so as to link them with existing jobs at local, provincial and national government departments.

During the road shows - which kick off tomorrow in the Free State - the NYDA will hold consultations with premiers, mayors and municipal managers to look at ways of speedily filling-up vacancies.

The NYDA will use its existing system of Jobs and Opportunities Seekers Database (JOBS) to load CVs received from young people.

JOBS is an online database for young people looking for job and training opportunities. In the past, JOBS has proven to be an effective tool for linking up young people with job opportunities.

The road shows will begin at the Matjhabeng Municipal Office in Welkom on Monday, followed by the Mangaung Outdoor Centre in Bloemfontein on Tuesday and Kimberly on Wednesday.

Upington in the Northern Cape will get its opportunity on Thursday, followed by Mafikeng next Monday. In the North West, Rustenburg will get its opportunity on 20 September, followed by East London in the

Eastern Cape on 21 September.
