Named after the English evangelist and preacher of the 18th century evangelical revival, George Whitefield College was founded in 1989 by Bishops Dudley Foord and Joe Bell, and established in Muizenburg in the Western Cape by David Broughton Knox. The College specialises in educating students in the principles of Christian knowledge (the knowledge of God and related fields of knowledge), and trains learners for Christian life and ministry. Full time courses include the Certificate of Theology, and university accredited programs include a Bachelor of Theology, Honours BA in Arts (Theology) and Master of Arts (Theology). Courses such as Evangelism, Christian Ethics, Old Testament Introductions, New Testament Introduction, Biblical Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Children’s Minstry, Youth Ministry and Women’s Ministry fall into either core or elective categories.
