Exercise Teachers Academy (ETA) is a sport and fitness college “dedicated to providing dynamic learning programmes that lead to internationally benchmarked qualifications”. Launched in 1983 by Dr Malcolm Marrison in collaboration with his colleagues in sport science at UCT; the academy was created to meet the educational needs of a fast developing health and fitness industry at the time.

ETA is now a leading provider of courses that lead to fitness, sport coaching and sport management qualifications. Courses address capacity building and transformation needs of the South African society, by providing scholarships to historically disadvantaged students.

With five main campuses located in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Stellenbosch, ETA has a limited intake of 200 students. Durban campus also has a satellite campus in Bloemfontein.
