The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is in Bellville, Cape Town. Established in 1960 by the South African government as a university for Coloured people only, it has a proud history of creative struggle against oppression, discrimination and disadvantage. UWC is concerned with maintaining a sense of hope for the nation, while helping to build an equitable and dynamic society.
